South Natomas
Date: February 10, 2000
On February 10 over 20 people participated in a community workshop
at the South Natomas branch library to have input into the library master
planning process. There were participants from Del Paso Heights and South
Natomas branches. They worked as members of two planning teams. The teams
mapped their communities and the role of their libraries, imagined the
type of services and place the library would be in 20 years, identified
their immediate needs, and potential community partners.

Workshop Summary
The participants consider their branch library in dynamic growth areas
(Natomas) and accessible to surrounding schools and faith organizations
(Del Paso Heights). The need for enhancing access to information, especially
for youth and seniors, are the features they imagine for the future of
their libraries. The first step towards accomplishing their needs is to
focus on increasing the community's awareness and support for enhancing
library services. Their partnerships for their libraries include work readiness
organizations, community organizations, school districts and business.
