CAC Meeting #1: Planning Issues and Opportunities
On March 6, 1999, 32 people from the community and the CAC participated in a workshop where they reviewed the planning process and shared observations about planning issues and opportunities for the future of Elverta.
The workshop agenda included:

The participants in the workshop formed two teams. Each team prepared a photo and map summary of what they felt were opportunities and challenges facing Elverta. They discussed and summarized their top five opportunities and top three challenges. Finally, each team identified their top objectives and the three most important actions required to successfully accomplish them.

OBJECTIVES
- 1. Establish a lasting community with a rural
- flavor.
- A. Smaller streets with rural character.
- B. Put open space on major roads and intense uses.
- C. Put trails along Elverta as an amenity.
- 2. Economically feasible project.
- A. Products that can sell in today's market.
- B. What level of off-site improvements are required?
- C. County reimbursed infra prior to dev.
- 3. Positive experience, so people see development does not have to be
- negative.
- A. Adequately mitigate off-site impacts such as downstream flooding.
- B. Traffic improvements.
- 4. Planning parks and horse trail, to assure we have them.
- A. Adequate infrastructure funding.
- B. Work jointly with special districts.
- 5. Create a planned community with adequate infrastructure, services and
- amenities.
