October 27, 1999 Community WorkshopOn October 29, 1999 over 60 participated in a televised workshop for the Davis Conservation District Design Guidelines effort. The workshop objectives included:
Exercise #1: City of Davis 1917 Context From memory, create a drawing of Davis. Indicate the historic part of the community, principal neighborhoods, major community gateways, edges and landmarks. Exercise #2: Character Area Mapping Using the large map, indicate to boundaries of areas that have distinctive characteristics. This could include land uses, types of buildings, architectural character, landscape, or other distinctive features. Exercise #3: Distinctive Characteristics From the photographs of streets and buildings, select ones that reflect the distinctive features in your character areas. Cut them out and glue them to the map. Add notes to the photos and maps that summarize your observations about the character features.
