Carmel Traditions Project, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

The next public workshop for the Carmel Traditions Project is scheduled for March 21, 1998 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Carmel Women's Club.

The following photographs were taken at the July 12,1997 public workshop facilitated by RACESTUDIO and Winter & Company.

The participants in the workshop had to answer the following questions and use a game board to map-out the evolution of Carmel prototype residential blocks. They were given game pieces that represented three generations of development. Participants gained an understanding how individual decisions over time shaped by views, landscape and topography created Carmel's residential patterns. Once they developed their neigborhoods, teams had to plan a new residential site within the context they created.
